The Ones Who Help You Untangle.

Young woman with curly hair smiling outdoors, wearing a green sweater, black pants, and a smartwatch, standing in front of trees and grass.

“I work with people who’ve survived the worst and are ready to stop minimizing what they went through. I make space for the hard stories others shy away from and I meet you where you are without shame. I’m unapologetically real: I’ve been in the room for the hard stuff, I prioritize safety and steady pacing, and I help you build practical, day-to-day changes that actually stick.”

A man with a beard and mustache wears a colorful, patterned cap and a white short-sleeved button-up shirt with a lobster and crab print, standing outdoors in a green, leafy environment.

“I’m in this work because I know how hard the path can be. I’ve walked my own. Healing and growth aren’t easy, and I understand how heavy the road can feel. Sometimes you need someone who won’t flinch at the hard parts, and that’s the role I take: steady support when you’re tired, discouraged, or ready to quit…pushing with you, reminding you of your strength, and helping you find the next step when the way forward feels impossible.”

  • Licensed Clinician, Founder

I’m a straightforward therapist, licensed in California and Texas, who helps people heal from trauma. I’ve built my life around understanding how people heal, not just from stress or burnout, but from the deep, hidden wounds that shape how we see ourselves and move through the world. I’ve spent years diving into the science, the somatics, and the stories. Why? Because I believe you deserve to feel safe in your own body and mind.

In my office, you’re taken seriously. I believe your symptoms and will not dismiss them. I know firsthand what it’s like to be disregarded by the medical system in this country, and I’m committed to creating a space where you feel fully seen, heard, and believed. Together, we get to the root of what’s happening, uncovering patterns and addressing the places where trauma has left its mark.

This work is sacred to me. I care about doing it well. I collaborate with other medical and wellness professionals to bridge the gaps left by other systems, ensuring your care is comprehensive and connected.

My clients come to me exhausted, stuck, or unsure of who they are. We work together to make sense of what’s happened and find where it all began. I’m passionate about what I do and deeply committed to supporting each person’s journey to regaining their strength, clarity, and joy.

  • Self-resiliency Coach, Co-founder

I walk alongside you after the storm of trauma has passed, helping you reconnect with the parts of yourself that trauma once took away. Trauma can leave a hole where your sense of identity used to be. My role as a Trauma Support Coach is to help you weave together those loose ends and find who you truly are beyond the pain.

I use supportive approaches, inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS), along with education about whole‑person wellness practices such as supplements, peptides, and gentle nervous system support. I’m not a licensed therapist or medical provider, and I don’t diagnose or treat; all guidance I offer is for educational purposes, and I encourage clients to consult with their healthcare professionals.

As part of The Whole Thread team, I collaborate when appropriate, ensuring clients receive multiple referral options and the care that fits them best. Therapy and coaching services at The Whole Thread are distinct and confidential, with no shared client records or clinical oversight. My goal is to walk with you as you unravel what no longer serves you, remember your inner resilience, and reweave your story.

I practices independently, not under Megan Winkler’s clinical license or charting system.

 FAQs

  • Coaching focuses on teaching and practicing concrete skills, strategies, and exercises to support change and growth. It does not include mental health diagnosis, medication management, psychotherapy, or creation of clinical treatment plans.

  • Coaching is not medical care. We do not provide mental-health diagnoses, medical evaluations, or clinical treatment plans. Coaching is not a replacement for therapy. You may choose to work with a coach, a therapist, or both, and we can help refer you to a clinician if needed.

The Whole Thread offers both therapy and coaching. Therapy services are provided only by licensed clinicians like myself. Coaching services, such as those offered by Alan Winkler, are independent wellness services and are not psychotherapy or a substitute for mental health treatment. If you choose to work with him, your agreement and records will be maintained separately under his role as a coach.
